Structural Steelwork for Amazon Warehouse

Thorndell Engineering are proud to provide structural engineering services throughout the UK to a wide variety of national and international brands. Our expert team have worked on some fantastic projects providing a range of steel services, including a prestigious new build development at Carlton Gate, Leeds, and a variety of works for the upcoming York Community Stadium. We completed this project for international brand Amazon, which involved structural steelwork for a new Amazon distribution centre just outside Doncaster.

With over 40 years' experience providing industrial and commercial structural engineering services, we designed and manufactured steelwork to house the illuminated Amazon sign on the new warehouse – visible from the Great Yorkshire Way on the M18. Our team also manufactured two steel walkways for the dispatch area, providing easier distribution for HGVs.

These two galvanised steel walkways were 60m long, and helped with the daily operations of the warehouse, aiding in the management of vehicles and goods coming into and out of the warehouse. We also designed, manufactured and installed other general steelwork to the warehouse, which has helped support the daily operations of Amazon.

We were appointed by main contractor Buckingham Group to complete the structural and secondary steelwork, and developed an excellent relationship with the client throughout the project. The project was a great success, and our expert team achieved an excellent finish. We encountered no hurdles in the duration of the project, and achieved an excellent finish on the final product that both our team and the client were extremely proud of.
