Structural Steelwork for New Lodge, York

Thorndell Engineering were appointed by main contractor Wates Construction to provide a range of structural steelwork for the New Lodge development in New Earswick, York. New Lodge is a new centre for village life, designed by Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust to meet demands for flexible, high-quality care services in the area.

It's a great development, providing affordable housing suitable for residents at different stages of their lives. The new development even includes facilities such as a hairdresser, lounge, laundry and guest rooms, with new communal dining facilities.

This is a fantastic new development, providing a real new community to the area. The Thorndell Engineering team were delighted to be involved with the project, providing a wide variety of structural engineering services, including Structural Steel Frames, Windposts and Roof Beams. The structural steelwork we have supplied and installed is all manufactured to the highest quality, fully CE Marked to execution class 2. Our team also manufactured new Balconies and Supporting Angles for the development.

Over the course of the project, we faced some last-minute design changes, which added an extra element of challenge to the project. By completely stopping our manufacturing process using our CE Marking Factory Production Control, we were able to issue the new design changes. After the design changes, because we complete all our design and manufacturing work in house, we were able to design, manufacture and install the steelworks to the client's exact specifications.
